Five different types of rice are produced and marketed in the name and style of PERIYAR

             

This bold variety of rice is very popular since it produces more rice when cooked. The colour of the cooked rice will be white.

Kuruva rice is Par boiled / double boiled White Short grain, which is shorter in size and white in colour.

 

The long grain rice or the basmati from Periyar is widely accepted for its quality and unique taste. The specialty of Long Grain rice from Periyar is its non sticky quality.

This rice is thin and long among the white rice, also known as US style rice. It cooks very fast due to its size and is also very tasty.

 

It is short, round and reddish in colour and. One factor is that it takes lesser time to get cooked when compared among the group and is also rich in fibre and Vitamin B content. Both the reddish short and long grains are mostly preferred in Kerala and also popularly known as “Pallakkadan Matta”.

This variety of rice is the most popular and preferred rice in Kerala and is a bold variety of long boiled rice reddish in colour and is the tastiest among the group. This rice is rich in fibre and Vitamin B content.
